Glow @Artweek- Devonport

Glow@Artweek, was a second year project, which was based in Devonport.
The brief for this assignment was to design and build a light installation for Artweek, on Devonport's waterfront.
I was the Project manager for this installation and created the nostalgic idea of creating a kaleidoscope that the public can walk through. This was a hugely successful project, which was adored by the public.
My exhibition made it into the North Shore Times, and was the favorite of the exhibitions for that year.

Pantheon Hand Drawing

For Critical Studies in 2015, i was assigned the Pantheon, as a historical building to study.
I was required to hand draw a plan of the building as well as a section through the building.
This was one of my first projects at Unitec, and was one I thoroughly enjoyed. I find it very rewarding to do hand drawings.
Glashaus

Glashaus, Bruno Taut, 1914.
For this assignment i had to choose a building out of a select list. I decided to challenge myself by choosing Taut's Glashaus from the 1914 Werkbund exhibition, Cologne.
I was required to build a scale replica model of the historical building, considering the geometry required for this building, i believe the end result was well executed. The dome was 3D printed and the base was molded from clay.
Bird Hide

For this assignment I was required to design a bird hide for the wetlands, out at Bethell's beach for a new site that was wanting to attract bird watchers, as well as educate more people on New Zealand's Wetlands, native plants, and native birds.
It had to be built from natural materials, that could easily be transported to the site and be easily assembled.
The concept for this design was to have vertical lengths of wood at the viewing points to blend in with the reeds of the wetlands, so that the birdwatchers could camouflage, giving them a better chance at seeing a rare species.

Rotherman House

Rotherman House was a 2nd year project, where we were given the building and had to build it to a certain level of detail using Revit.

Skyscraper

My concluding project for my Bachelors of Architectural Studies was to design a Skyscraper for Auckland's CBD.
Our site was on the corner or Mayoral Drive and Myers Street. This is a very steep site, that is currently a car park used as a popular part of a walkway from Myers Park, which is a shortcut from Karangahape road to Aotea square.
My design was to involve one of Auckland's most recognisable sites, Rangitoto Island.
My skyscraper directly faces rangitoto with the narrowest part pointing towards the volcano.
I included a rooftop botanical garden as a secondary function to my building, with the most important tree located in the garden being the Pohutakawa, as Rangitoto is the largest Pohutakawa Forrest in the world.
the louvers on the southern face of the building not only were to provide privacy from the main road, but also as a representation of the long roots from a Pohutakawa tree.
